Varsovia Tomato
Varsovia is an older Polish tomato variety credited to breeder Władysław Kuszyk. It’s a beautiful dark tomato that isn’t commonly found here and is definitely one worth keeping around.
The indeterminate plants are tall and very productive, producing medium to large beefsteak tomatoes usually around 7–14 ounces, with larger fruit possible. The tomatoes are slightly flattened and can have some ribbing, ripening to a gorgeous deep mahogany or dark cherry-brown color.
Inside, the flesh is meaty and juicy with a rich, full flavor and a really nice balance of sweetness and acidity. It has that deeper, almost wine-like flavor that makes the darker tomatoes so good.
Around 80 days to maturity.
Varsovia is one I really like for both its history and its color. A beautiful old Polish variety with great production, meaty fruit and that rich dark-tomato flavor that makes it stand out.
