Katinka Cherry is an old variety believed to have originated in Russia. It made its way to German tomato collector Reinhard Kraft, then to tomato historian Craig LeHoullier, and was being shared through Seed Savers Exchange by 2005.
This is a really interesting little tomato, especially for anyone who loves tomato genetics. Katinka carries the uncommon recessive Tangerine gene, giving the fruit its beautiful golden-orange color and unusual carotenoid makeup.
Indeterminate, vigorous and extremely productive plants produce loads of small, round, 1 oz golden-orange cherries with excellent sweet, fruity flavor. Katinka is also known for producing large, highly branched flower clusters.
A unique old variety with an interesting history, great flavor and genetics you just don’t find in many tomatoes.
