Livingston’s Dwarf Stone
A wonderful piece of American tomato history! Livingston’s Dwarf Stone was introduced by the Livingston Seed Company in 1902 as a dwarf-growing counterpart to their famous Stone tomato. It was bred for gardeners wanting the quality and solid fruit of Stone on a shorter, more compact plant.
Plants are sturdy and compact with dense foliage, producing smooth, meaty red tomatoes with a classic old-fashioned tomato flavor. The fruits are generally medium to large, solid and fairly uniform with good slicing quality. Its compact growth made Dwarf Stone especially useful for smaller gardens and closer planting.
An uncommon Livingston variety that is over 120 years old and a fun one to grow for anyone who loves preserving early American tomato history.
