Matchelss Austin's Strain Tomato Seeds

Matchless (Austin Strain)

A wonderful piece of tomato history! The original Matchless was introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1889, and this Austin Strain has been passed along and preserved by seed savers for many years.

Plants are sturdy and productive, producing beautiful red to deep orange-red slicers with juicy, meaty flesh and that good old-fashioned tomato flavor—a nice balance of mild sweetness and acidity. Fruits are generally around 3–4 inches across and make an excellent slicing and sandwich tomato.

What really makes this one special to me is the history behind it. More than 135 years after Matchless was introduced, seed savers are still keeping this old variety alive and growing.
